Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9 +

If you look at the latest releases of the Galaxy S series, these Galaxy S9 are quite predictable in terms of design. I explain. The Galaxy S6 introduced the new design in metal and glass with curved screen, a proposal that was repeated with the Galaxy S7, although perfecting some details. In this sense, the

Galaxy S9 is to the S8 what the S7 went to the S6. We have an aspect that follows the dictates of the previous generation; metal structure, glass back, curved edges and a front in which the screen is the absolute protagonist.

The design of the Galaxy S9 maintains the excellent compaction work that we saw with the previous generation. It also maintains the same sizes, with a 5.8-inch panel for the basic model and a 6.2-inch panel for the Galaxy S9 +, the two Super AMOLED, with QHD + resolution and the same 18.5 9 format. The screen has already said everything, but the S9 reaffirm it; vivid colors, excellent contrast and sharpness that translate into a visual experience that is difficult to overcome.

The Galaxy S9 and S9 + continue to stand out for mounting high quality panels; bright colors, excellent contrast, better sharpness. Little more to add.

As for ergonomics, besides that as we said the effort of compaction is more than remarkable, its rounded shapes make the grip is very comfortable and also the glass is not slippery, although a magnet for the prints (for this there is no magic remedy). The 5.8-inch model is the one that feels best in hand, at least in mine, since it provides a more secure grip and is easier to handle in one hand. Obviously his older brother, the S9 +, which grows up to 6.2 inches, makes it more difficult to handle one hand fluid. However, the use of the front makes that, despite mounting large panels, neither of them is too large.

But we go with the changes, specifically with one that was very much in demand in the previous generation: the location of the fingerprint reader. If you have used an S8 (or a Note 8), you will know that placing the reader next to the camera is not exactly a success. Yes, in the end you get used to it, but putting the finger in the lens is common. In the S9 the reader is placed under the camera, centered on the back of the terminal.

The biggest change at the design level is the location of the fingerprint reader, which is now centered under the camera. No more dedazos on the lens.

During the test I was able to unlock the terminal several times and, without being a dramatic change, the new position is undoubtedly much more natural and the lens of the camera has been freed from leaving my imprint imprinted. What has been said is not an improvement that is going to be an incredible change, but it is more than welcome.

There are other changes, this time more subtle, that are focused on making the front is as clear as possible. For example now the iris scanner is practicallyinvisible, making the upper edge much more 'empty' at a glance. In addition, it has been made that the black tone between the edge and the screen itself is the same so that when it is turned off it looks like the same surface. As I said, discrete changes, but that contribute to enhance that sobriety of design, especially in the black model.

To close the design part, mention that the S9 continue to maintain the IP68 water resistance certificate and will arrive in four colors: Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Lilac Purple, Titanium Gray

If we travel to the lower edge of the terminal we find the loudspeaker, but beware because it is not the only one, there is a second loudspeaker at the top, but not on the edge, but integrated into the phone's own handset. Oddly enough, this is the first time that the Galaxy S series bet on stereo speakers. The

Galaxy S5 and earlier had the speaker on the back and from the S6 went to the bottom edge, but it was only one.

The Galaxy S9 are released with stereo speakers, one placed at the bottom edge and the other at the top, right where the headset is.

On the placement, the ideal would be to have the two speakers in the front, but although the lower does not point directly, I have to say that they sound really good. Specifically, Samsung indicates that it is 1.4 times more volume than the S8 offers . In addition, we have the option to activate the Dolby

Atmos sound enhancement for more immersive audio. The difference between having it activated or deactivated is quite noticeable, but we must not lose sight of the fact that we are talking about a smartphone, so the 'envelope' is relative.

Finally, note that like the headphones that brought the S8, the speakers of the S9 have the AKG seal, to be exact Samsung indicates that they have been 'tuned by AKG' (tuned by AKG).

The leaks had been responsible for watering the surprise of the camera, even Samsung itself had made it clear that this would be the main novelty in their teasers. However, in spite of the advances, the camera surprises positively, but there is also a negative point and that is that the rumors were right: the double camera only reaches the plus model. In other words, if you want the best, touch big screen.

The Galaxy S9 +'s dual camera allows you to make the fashionable tan blur background or bokeh effect, as well as zoom with your second telephoto lens. If these two functions are key to you, the plus model is the appropriate option. However, if you do not give such importance, the S9 has a unique camera that is at the same level in terms of quality and also has one of the great novelties: variable aperture f / 1.5-2.4.

The double camera and RAM make the plus model no longer just the biggest, now it is also the better of the two.

The camera is without doubt the one with the most potential. The variable aperture aims to give a lot of war in low light scenarios and the super slow camera achieves spectacular results, although here I am not so clear that it supposes a substantial improvement for the user. The arrival of the double camera is halfway to come only in the plus model , something that together with the difference in RAM memory is a change of strategy that pushes us more and more to large screens.

As for software innovations, the AR emojis is something that good, it is fun but it is not a novelty that will revolutionize the way we communicate (nor is it exactly original). Bixby is vitamin with new functions and we have an improvement in the scanning of iris with Intelligent Scan, although here

I reserve the verdict for the in-depth analysis. The new processor Exynos 9810 puts the icing on a pair of smartphones that are already placed between the first division of the high-end 2018.
