Apple Watch Crushes The Smartwatch Market

According to IDC figures, the smart watch of Apple Roundup more than 53% of sales in 2017 leaving crumbs to competition.

Apple refuses to give its Watch sales figures but according to IDC, the smartwatch flows as a small bread. Apple would have elapsed to no less than 8 million copies during the last quarter of 2017 against 5 million a year earlier, representing a growth of 57%. A figure identical to that delivered by Canalys, a few weeks ago.

Which is a new record for wearables sold by a company in a quarter. Fitbit was the previous record holder, reminds Canalys, with 6.1 million units in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Considering the strict market of the smartwatch (and), the firm won 60% of the market in Q4 (!) and 53% for the whole year with 17.7 million copies sold. Apple distance its main competitor Samsung that has sold only 3.6 million watches connected over the period, or a share of around 11%. The rest of the actors settle for crumbs.

The success of the Apple wearables in 2017 is largely attributable to its Watch 3 series launched in September 2017, which has added to the range a cellular connection to make telephone calls from his watch.

These results confirm the statements made the week last by the CEO of Apple Tim Cook during a conference call with investors. "We recorded our best quarter for Apple Watch" had it "with a growth of more than 50% of the turnover and units for the fourth consecutive quarter and strong growth in double digits in each geographical area .
